Colorectal Cancer Faster Diagnosis Pathways

By March 27, 2024No Comments

The Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) Pathway Development fund created by NHS England now enables CDCs to deploy LumenEye across England as part of an optimised Lower GI Cancer Pathway. The National Advisor to NHSE for the SouthEast region has suggested that if patients have rectal bleeding as their only symptom, are not anaemic and have a FIT <40 they should undergo a LumenEye examination and can be safely discharged if these are normal. This will increase endoscopy capacity for urgent referrals whilst providing a higher level of certainty for those being discharged. Applications are open to all CDCs with up to £250,000 available per site.
